The segment was extracted from an episode of The Big Bang Theory. It is a scene in which two people are talking, and one of them uses some slang and idioms. It is an opportunity for the students to get to know new ways of saying things. Besides, it may encourage them to discuss cultural aspects.
Suggested procedures:
Before watching: have students read what is in the chart and discuss the concepts of slang and idioms, then do tasks 1, 2 and 3 also as a following part of the oral discussion.
While watching: invite students to watch the video segment and do tasks 4, 5 and 6.
After watching: have students do task 7. Task 8 is another opportunity for oral discussion. Allow your students to express their points of view.
